Annoying Tick...
Ive researched this topic on this site but just want to get a few more opinions....I recently had a 350 put into my 91 z28 after blowing the 305 that was in it.....there is only 1400 miles on the new motor and the past few days i noticed a ticking noise coming from the drivers side closest to the windsheild. Installed on the motor are hooker 2055 headers....the motor is a rebuild from this place http://www.rebuilt-auto-engines.com/...20108550238.f6
.....the noise seems to come and go and when i can hear it, it sounds like a baseball card in bike spokes that increases at low to mid rpms...any opinions would be great on what to do...i plan on checking headers and making sure things are tight, and also checking for vibrations in fuel rail...other than that im not sure what to look for....all im worried about is blowing this motor....thanks in advance

Re: Annoying Tick...
sounds exactly like an exhaust leak.
Get some hose, or a stethoscope, and see if it's from under the valve covers, or the headers.
Or check header bolts, if tight, then remove valve covers and run engine like that, see if any rocker arms are loose.

Re: Annoying Tick...
take a stick of incense hold it where u suspect the leak to be coming from, itll glow brighter if thats where the leak is from. typically when a header gasket blows or theres a leak there they make that kinda sound, also could be a loose rocker arm, for that u gotta take out the valve cover. if u wanna be thorough about it, turn on the car, loosen it till it starts to click, then tighten till it stops to click and then one half more
