89 rs dies at idle when low on gas??

its a 350 tbi, I have had it only a week, Its not near as quick as my 86 iroc-z but its ok.. not as many mods yet... my question is, when stoping to turn.. any low rpm's it will cut off.. unless over a 1/4 of a tank or so.. could this be my fuel pressure reg.? or any other ideas welcome!!!! thanks again

Maybe sludge down in the bottom of the tank? I'd go ahead and do a complete tune-up on it to eliminate the possibility of low fuel being just a coincidence. No point in dropping the tank if it's just bad plug wires or something simple.
