i have a charging issue with my 91 rs, both alternator and battery show charge at 12.1 bolts, now i know it should be at 13.2-13.5, battery is good, alternator is also new, initially i thought faulty alternator, car does cutt off if i disconnect the negative terminal. so i've taken the the alternator to be tested a few times at autozone and it shows to be good, how is this possible, could anything else be the problem, please help me from being stranded thanks

 

Is the wiring between the alternator and battery clean of corrosion? How about the plug on top of the alternator? Is the "L" wire on the alternator connected to anything?

 

i thought the same, rust, but it's been cleaned, i switched the alternator from my 88 to my 91 and same happens, i doubt both alternators to be bad. i will try to find the warranty to my alternator, have it replaced and try that route, thanks

 

still need help, replaced starter tonight, voltage showed 14 @ the dash did not check with a meter, toought my problems were fixed and blamed a bad alternator. sadly this isnt it, after taking the car to a test run the voltage dropped to 12 volts any ideas,
