Electronic Controlled Carb/Distributor

I've got a 1986 Z28 305 that I'd like to try and run on an engine stand just to see if it runs. It has the computer controlled carburetor that is wired to the distributor, and I assume the computer. So my question is, can I run the engine by just supplying 12V to the ignition, and supplying a ground, without having the computer wired in? Can either the carb or the distributor be used on an engine without the electronic wiring hooked up?

It'll start and run for testing without the computer, just don't expect much out of it for performance.
