Coolant

When firing up an engine for the first time how do you guys go about filling the coolant to proper way? If you fill the radiator up at first should you leave the cap off so when the thermostat opens you can add more then? or will you have problems with the cap off running the engine between 2000-3000 rpms with it overflowing and splashing everywhere? If you could tell me the procedure you usually go through that would be awesome also what psi radiator cap should I run?

Re: Coolant

Fill the overflow tank, fill the rad, leave the cap off, start the engine, continue topping up the rad while the engine warms up, put the cap on when coolant starts to expand and overflow from the filler neck. Use a standard 16 PSI cap.
