QUESTION ABOUT MY 1987 TRANS AM

i just picked up a 1987 trans am orig. came with a 305 tpi but motor was swapped out to a 350 tpi it has a tpis big mouth intake on it, looks like aftermarket injectors and sounds like there is a cam , car has been sitting for about 3 years car starts up however the idle jumps all over the place im going to do a tune up on it however the check engine light is on and it comes up that the map sensor is bad i have looked every where under the hood and i cant seem to find it can anyone please tell me where it is or show me a pic of where it is also looking to find a pic of the vacuum hoses because when the car is running there is a vacuum leak ang i cant seem to find where this hose goes to, also there is like a air box located on the pass, side of the engine next to the heater control valve that makes a racket when its running with no hoses going to it

check out autozone.com they have a troubleshooting section and also somewhere in there a parts locator. you enter you car and year and what part your trying to find and it tells you where on the motor it is. how accutate it is i do not know but always worth a try. good luck

Re: QUESTION ABOUT MY 1987 TRANS AM

If you have a Mass Air Flow sensor, you will not have a MAP sensor. That code also goes for the Mass Air Flow sensor. Check your MAF relays (there are 2 of them by the fuel pump relay on the driver side next to brake booster). If those are ok, you may have a bad MAF. Also, the Chiltons book has the vacuum diagrams in there. If you put a picture of the hose and the engine, we might be able to help with that.
