White smoking HELP!!!!

Hey all, I recently bought a 92 z28 that someone had done an engine swap and put a 350 with a 4 barrel quadrajet in it. After I bought it the carb gasket popped a leak so i swapped it, and put a rebuild kit in it while i had it down. It did okay for a while but recently it has started getting some serious white smoke out of the exhaust with enough gas fumes to choke a mule. Its flooding pretty seriously, if anyone has any ideas, besides a new carbeurator which i cant afford right now, I would definitely appreciate the help.

Re: White smoking HELP!!!!

my car does the same thing, take the carb back off and have a shop rebuild it, also check the lines going to the carb, make sure they are tight, you are gonna smell gas fumes no matter what, its a carb, get used to that.

other than that check fuel pressure, its running entirely too rich.

Re: White smoking HELP!!!!

White smoke is water/coolant or condensation. Black smoke is fuel. Check your coolant level just to be sure. Doesn't explane the rich condition though.

Does it puff black smoke if you rev it?

Re: White smoking HELP!!!!

Ya white smoke is steam from a coolant leak, usually head gaskets. Sounds like your rich. Perhaps your jetting is off. You could have got the pintles stuck open causing a rich condition. I would take off the carb, take some carb cleaner and an air hose and go to town.
