Installing Air Pump delete pulley
Installing Air Pump delete pulley
I posted in parts wanted and one of the members pointed out one on ebay. I bought and it arrived today. Noticed the pulley is smooth like it would be used on back side of belt. My air pump has the grooves like it rides on the inside of the belt. Also it looks like when bolted on it will be behind where my belt rides. The only picture I could find was a car with a/c. I need to keep my a/c in Louisiana. Any help or suggestions?

you need to change the belt routing and use a different size belt for that pulley. there is a write up on this set up in the tech articles.
Re: Installing Air Pump delete pulley
Forget the delete pulley- doesn't even sound like you've got the right one for a 3rd gen Camaro. Follow the tech article on this board instead. You simply remove the smog pump completely, buy a different length belt (96.8") and use a slightly altered belt routing. Done it on several cars now- it's a snap, costs nothing except the cost of the belt and it works just beautiful. No complaints at all with it.

took everything off mine hardest part was the torx bolts going thru housing other than that I used the same belt just routed it as in tech articles plenty of tension
Re: Installing Air Pump delete pulley
Thanks for posting the picture, after doing search last night I found it and added to my favorites. Make it easier to find. The top picture looks like the smog pump delete plate I got. Now it makes sense that the pulley is smooth instead of grooved. I will post this afternoon after I install it. My son will be here from Dallas and he will be able to post pictures.
