Loud knocking when accelerating

Hey everyone. I drive a 1990 Firebird Formula WS6, 305 TBI/700 R4.

I went to go to work yesterday and as I found that when I gave my bird a little gas, a really loud knocking would start. My cars check engine light isn't on, I have good oil psi, and it idles fine, and when i'm on the highway at cruising speed, the noise is gone. It's only when I accelerate. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: Loud knocking when accelerating

Broken transmission mount. Get under the car and place a jack under the tailshaft of the transmission. Jack it up ever so sligthly (roughly an 1"). If the transmission doesn't lift up off the mount then its not broke. If you see the mount stay put or the mount seperating then the mount broke. You could also look around the transmission tunnel too and possibly see where the driveshaft smacked around a little bit.
