What do you have? Or, do you just have a 350 shortblock?
Cheapest are LG4/L69/LB9/LU5 305 heads, casting 416 or 601. It's what your car came with. You do have to watch compression, since these heads have smaller chambers than stock 350 heads, but most 350's have dished pistons which hurts power and the 305 heads will actually bring it back up to something more reasonable.
If you don't have your 305 heads anymore, come down and pick up the set I have (yes, just pick them up - I'm not looking to get any money out of them).
Freshened up 416's with new valve springs, and if you want to spend a little more money, 1.94" intake valves and a little port clean-up, will do a mild 350 just fine.
Vortec heads will work with carburetor, you just need a Vortec carburetor intake manifold.

The vortecs are great.... I posted on your other thread. The intake is different, but the only thing i would have done different, would have been an edelbrock intake to start with. The summit intake isn't really the greatest. Thread
