880 casting-ZZ4
Hey, any input on the 880 casting block? They are getting fairly easy to find. They worth putting any time and money into? I do most of my block work myself. I am keeping the high nickle/tin 010's for my grandkids....
I have put splayed caps in ( not line honed yet ) deburred block opened up main oil gallery to 1/2" same with all other galleries. Polished all oil galleries.
I am at that point to have it cleaned so I can put filler in it. ( have sheetmetal caps to fit over pump holes and fill 3/4 way up pump hole.)
Just an ignorant question to ask if IN your opinion this block is worth time and effort. It will be a 396+ cube stroker. 30 over cylinders. Used for an 1/8 mile screamer.
I appreciate your time and opinion.

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
Nothing wrong with the 880 block. Quality certainly is much improved over the 010 blocks. The 880 is basically the same as the 638 I'm running, which was used in a bunch of things, including the ZZ3 crate engine (which is what mine started off as).

Re: 880 casting-ZZ4
Thank-you for the welcome. Everyone hates to chase good money after 'bad. I appreciate the input! I have a few months before spring gets here and I run this combination. I hope to post THAT it held together and it 'might survive till it gets refreshed.
Many THANKS
