Better pushrods...too short or too tall?

A 7.100" pushrod is slightly too short while the 7.200" pushrod is slightly too tall. I could run my .080" lash caps but do not want to do that in the event they come off and ruin my motor.

In this case, which would be the better choice?

Why can't you order a set of 7.15" ?

Buy a length checker from summit or jegs and then determine the exact right length you need. you may need to have a set made.

Re: Better pushrods...too short or too tall?

Using a checker. Seems to fall between 7.150" and 7.178". 7.178" closer on the exhaust and 7.150" closer on the intake. This was more of a question of which would be better if one had to make this choice between slightly too long or slightly too short.

I need to decide if I want to stick with a 1 pc. pushrod. I really do but will either have to wait til December before Summit can ship out a 7.178" set or order the 7.150" set. Both lengths witness marks look good.

However, the part number that JEGS lists as 7.178" pushrods comes up as 7.210" pushrods on Summits site...

Try Smith Bros. Pushrods. They will make you anything you need, usually within a week. Not sure if they'll sell direct to you though or if you'll need to find a dealer. Just a thought, easier than screwing with Summit or Jeeeeeeeeegs.
