Clearance Issues with 168 Tooth Flywheel
Ok, So the engine in my car right now is an L98 engine, I seized it up, so im pulling the engine out and putting in a built engine from a suburban, heres my problem. the flywheel on the new engine is a truck flywheel with 168 teeth. I'm going to be running some hedman shorty headers, so I know with the truck starter, there is going to be an issue.
I was thinking, I could either take the flywheel off my L98 setup, but if I do that, I'll hafta take it in and get it balanced with my rotating assembly so that I can use the starter from my L98 setup.. which getting all that balanced is getting up there in price..
or
I could buy a ministarter and fix my clearance issues (im assuming), from what I hear if I buy a mini starter, I shouldnt have any problems, is this correct?
I'll be running hedman 68470's, I was hoping not to spend a ton of money on this, so I was wondering would this starter work? and clear all my clearance issues?

it's a summit brand one, but it looks pretty slim and small.. what do you guys think?

That's the one I've been running for a few years. I had to do some grinding on the block and/or starter to get it to tuck up as tight as I wanted.

If not, as long as they are both the same rear main seal type, it should transfer directly from one engine to the other.
By the way, if this is for an automatic transmission car, it's normally referred to as a "flexplate" to distinguish it from the heavier piece required with a clutch.
