Sensor Identification

Had the engine out and noticed a connector was broken I know that one is the knock sensor but can't figure out what the other one is. The engine is a 1989 L98 from a IROC-Z. The sensors on the enging block look the same. Can someone please help me?

Re: Sensor Identification

Someone correct me if I am wrong here..... I'm pretty sure that is the fan relay, or switch. Has something to do with the fan.

The knock sensor is in the block water jacket passenger side drain hole. The radiator fan switch is in the passenger side head (not a sensor).

To the best of my knowledge, there are no other sensors or switches on that side of the engine.

On the driver's side, the oil pressure sending unit/switch is above the filter any many models (but not mine). In the driver's side head is the temperature gage sender (not a sensor).

Re: Sensor Identification

Like celica said, its probably your coolant temp switch. its on the passenger side of the block, should have a single wire running to it.

Actually, like I said, the fan switch is not in the "block", it's in the head.

The CTS is on the intake manifold.
