Wondering what would be better...

Ok. So I have a 1987 Chevrolet Camaro Iroc. the car originally came with a 305 but the previous owner had a 5.7 350 installed that a chevy dealer installed. apparently it is a truck engine that was compatible in the camaro however from what i have researched it was meant for a tbi truck... so here is my question.. I have the chance to purchase a camaro that has a 305 in it and a posi rear with 3.73 gears along with some other parts I can use on my car.. would it be better, power wise, to keep this 350 in the car or to swap in this 305 and build it up? I mean i have the funds to build up the 350 but to figure out which parts will work and whatnot seem like it is going to be a problem. just looking ot see if putting a 305 in makes any sense at all.. thanks

Depending upon exactly which truck engine it was, and which 305 is in the Camaro, the 305 heads on the truck engine might be the simplest approach. Need more details.

Re: Wondering what would be better...

I want to say that the 350 (truck engine) is the L05. Whenever I do the yahoo search for my engines part number (12520268) I get different websites that say that my p/n is the older part number for 12568758. So I am assuming I have a L05 engine. But on another forum a member had a chevy dealership install the same engine in his camaro and i found that this 350 has a low end cam in it and basically from the heads down is meant for a tbi motor. Now obviously I am not going to be towing anything with the camaro so i dont need all the low end so a few people said if i change the heads and camshaft i will be ok.. but how can i tell if the heads will fit.. i have already had problems with parts like Intake Manifold Baseplate, Hi Flo Runners, and headers having installation/fitment issues. will heads and cams that say they will fit a 5.7 350 work or is it more specific that just 350 5.7?
