help setting timing

help setting timing

i have a 91 camaro and am trying to set the timing

its suppose to be 6* below tdc how do i set that or what

i checked the https://www.thirdgen.org/settingtiming and it says to there is only one peak to retard 2* but i need 6? any one

lol i apparently i can rebuild engines bit not set timing

it would be great if you could tell me which peak is the right one and why

You should have a brown and tan wire over by you heater box that needs to be unplugged while engine is off. On your harmonic balancer there should be some numbers the 6 will be on the right side to the 0 and this should be lining up with the pont on the timming cover while the engie is running with regular timming light in use. Shut car off and then plug brown wire back up and you should be ready to go..The brown and tan wire is the advance mechanism for the fuel injected car you always need to set the timing with no advance that is why you need this unplugged. The peak on the left side of the tab is the right one. Hope this helps

Also, you're probably looking for 6* BEFORE TDC, not after. That will be towards the passenger side of 0* where there's multiple peaks.
