Car won't start, could this be the problem?

I've been struggling to get this car started for a while. It has spark and fuel, but it won't even sputter. It just keeps turning over and running the battery down.

When piecing together the fuel system, the guy at the parts store found a 90 degree fitting for the fuel inlet into the carburetor. I used it to reduce the kink in the (temorary) rubber fuel line, but now I'm wondering if it may be starving my carb. Any thoughts?

What are you doing?? The port you hooked the fuel line to is a vac port most commonly used to hook up the vac booster hose, the fuel inlet it is on the side, you can see it in the pic, it has the hose barb adapter with the cap on it (right next to the fuel filter in the pic). You're dumping fuel down the intake in massive quantities like this bypasssing the carburetor essentially, no wonder it won't run, you must have the mother of all flooded engines there

Hmmm...that could explain why it won't start. Sorry I'm such a Dumb***!!

This is my first carbureted car that I've ever worked on, and I was piecing it together...guess I screwed that one up. Thanks for the input!

If it still doesn't start, it could also be due to the control module in your distributor going bad. Mine did that last fall on my 84 T/A and it just cranked and cranked and cranked. Took me three weeks of digging in it every day after work before I gave up and the shop found it that night. Talk about mad...lol

The distributor is a new Summit HEI, so hopefully that won't be a problem. I tested, and I do have spark t the plug wires. I'm going to recharge the battery today and see how it goes. Thanks again!
