Can anyone guestimate a price to rebuild one?

Re: Transmission rebuild

With a good rebuild kit from probuilt, and 2 days of shop labor (since I would never rebuild a tranny with the little know how of how to do it)Around the 1000 dollar range is what I paid with labor and parts

Re: Transmission rebuild

I don't know enough to give you a price. But others might be able to help if you indicate the type of transmission you are talking about (700R4?), the intended use (stock vs. performance), if you are wanting a torque converter in the price, etc.

One reference point is that Summit gets $1295.99 for their SUM-700700 rebuilt 700R4. I don't know whether theirs is a good choice or not. Theirs does not include a converter.

Good luck with it.

Re: Transmission rebuild

it is indeed a 700r4 and i think i may go to the 3:73 ratio gears, I also have limited knowledge on trannys.

the reason i am asking is because i have got a deal on a 88 gta and it has a minor tranny issue, the owner says its the kick down cable. So before adding to my collection of 3rd gens i wanna make sure the rebuild isn't over my head.

Re: Transmission rebuild

$1000-1500 sounds about right.
