dies in 15 minutes

today while i was in the car figuring out an electrical problem i had with the stereo i left the car on, like i usually do since it doesnt get driven daily and i like to get it warmed up atleast once a day. well anyways it started up okay, and i let it idle for like 15 minutes, and then i started to check wires and whatnot in the console. then all of a sudden it started to idle slower, then it started struggling and just turned off.

then i tried to turn it on again, and it turned over, idled about 2 minutes more then turned off again. then when i went to turn it over again, it didnt have enough juice to get it to turn over. now my question is, the heater was on to prevent it from overheating, is it possible when it was idling that the battery didnt get charged and thats why it didnt wanna turn over again? also where should i start when it comes to finding out my problem. the car has a new fuel pump, alternator, radiator and recent flush.

i was thinking it could be the fuel pressure regulator, but i dont wanna go and spend money on unnecessary parts.

one more thing, the cars temperature gauge wasnt working i think, it seemed that after idling all that time the gauge wasnt even half way up.

Possibly a low battery can cause this. You might want to charge it. Make sure it is up to a full 12 volts. See if the car will start. If it does measure the voltage at the battery. It should be around 14 volts if the alternator is doing it's job.

Re: dies in 15 minutes

battery life..
12.6 100%
12.4 75%
12.2 50%
12.0 25%

make sure its 12.6 and it doesnt sound like a battery problem.. i would check voltage when running to make sure its at about 14 volts. if the internal voltage regulator i the alternator shorted out. the low voltage supply could be cause it to stall..

so you would need an alternator. a little more info on here will help
