Car Doesn't idle anymore

I was driving my 89 camaro today for a good part of the morning and when i got home in the afternoon i parked it and let it sit for a couple of hours. When i wanted to go back out later the car wouldnt start.
It would only start when i gave it some gas. But as soon as i let off the gas it dies instantly! The car runs great if you double foot it. but its kind of a pain in the butt.
I read all the tech articles about adjusting the IAC and the TPS but it just confused me. All the articles make the two parts sound the same.
So i went out to my car and looked at the throttle body and on the passanger side there is, well what i believe to be is the TPS on the top left of the throttle body. And below that there is a IAC that has a four pin connector in it... Am i right?
So i checked the diagnostic codes that the car was spitting out and it was saying code 32, and 42 which is the EGR and im not sure what 42 is.
I guess what im asking for is where to start?
Should i just buy a new IAC?

No I havnt, it's weird yesterday it started fine so I took it to work. But after work it wouldn't idle again. After work today I'm just gonna go ahead and buy a new IAC valve. And hope that does the trick

I had the same problem with my car it would drive great if i let it sit overnight and then i would drive it go back out and it wouldnt start. It was the TPS. You could try adjusting yoiur current one using a voltmeter like the tech article says or buy a new one and adjust it hope this helps this was my problem at least so maybe its yours good luck

Re: Car Doesn't idle anymore

sometimes when TPS goes bad they wont work after it runs for a while when it gets hot. changes the resistance. so it changes signal ECU. if it was IAC it would always be a problem, and if anything it would idle high if the valve got stuck. drop a new TPS on it and if it needs adjusted hook up a voltmeter and make sure your idle and WOT voltages are in range.
