Carb problem?
I was having alot of trouble with my car running, idling, and driving and noticed that when i accelerated the car would only hit around 2500 rpms and fall off to the point of dieing until i let off the throttle, and the same as the car began dieing down I noticed a little green bar right above the choke moving down. Is the carb broken or the fuel pump?
My car is an 83 trans am with a rochester 4bbl carb

Re: Carb problem?
Do you have an aftermarket "in-line" fuel filter? If you do, go ahead and replace it. If not, get a fuel line wrench and carefully take off your fuel line at the carb. There you should see a small brass screen. Look to see if it's clogged, replace if necessary. Get some carb cleaner and with the motor running squirt some into the secondary's. If that doesn't help it might be a throttle position sensor or the fuel mixture solonoid. Get in the car and turn your ignition to the "on" position but don't start the car. Do you hear a "ticking" sound coming from the carb area?

Yes it's supposed to tick. That's the fuel mixture solonoid. You're the origional owner? Sounds like a fuel problem, like it's not getting enough.
