I noticed today that the wires on my L98 are hooked up differently than the wires on my L05. On the L98 the wire to cylinder #1 is hooked up up to the distributor cap on the peg that is physically closest to the number one cylinder, on the "bottom right" of the distributor, if you will (about 5 o'clock). On the L05 the #1 plug wire is hooked up to the 1 O'clock peg on the dist, the top right if you will. Other than this the firing order seems to be correct on both. Is this all okay? Did somebody put the distributor in wrong in the L05 and connect the wires to make up for it?

 

yeah someone just put the distributor in "wrong" all though i wouldnt say wrong, as long as the order is all right as it goes around it will be ok.......

 

#1 can be anywhere on the cap depending how the distributor was dropped in. Putting #1 in the 5 o'clock position makes putting the plug wires on easier.

Apparently someone didn't know how to install the distributor on the LO5. Firing order is clockwise 18436572. 5 and 7 are always easy to mix up. I would have liked to be around when they were trying to fire up the engine. #1 plug wire was probably still at the 5 o'clock position and they had to rotate the distributor that far to get it to fire. Instead of pulling and turning the distributor, they just moved the wires.

 

it doesnt matter where the number 1 plug is on the distributor, as long as the firing order is18436572, in that order, thank you, happy motoring--dr. engine
