Re: fan wont turn off?
i am pretty sure when you removed manifolds you disconnected fan sw. wire . on pass. side cylinder head between the 2 rear plugs is a sensor , it is the fan sw. . it should have a single wire going to it . when coolant reaches a fixed temp. it grounds internally turning fan on . if wire is not connected it is grounded some where keeping fans on . if connected you may have a bad sensor/switch . good luck .

Re: fan wont turn off?
I have a related question. My fan seems to stay on all the time too. As soon as I turn the ignition one notch over, the fan starts running. Same thing?

There is a relay on the drivers side firewall that is oval shaped. It is your fan controll relay. I would check that. Mine went out and when i would shut off the car the fan would stay running.
