big block 468 trans am
just wondering what all ya guys think..i am pretty curious what kind of horsepower this thing should make and possibly how fast it will go in 1/4 mile
bbc 468. eagle 4340 forged crank. eagle i beam rods ( good to 700 hp) ross 12.5.1 pistons. crane .720/.740 solid roller camshaft. gm rectangle port 840 closed chamber heads .( these have had 1500$ worth of port work and other things done) i believe the valves are at least 2.19 / 1.88 possibly bigger not sure. vicor 454r intake manifold.1050 dominator....the guy i bought it off said it make 650 hp but a couple other people i talk to say it will prolly only make a lil over 600.what do you guys think? ..and here is the car
1987 trans am fully tubbed 32x14.5 tires.14 point cage.4 link.dana 60 4.88 gears. turbo 400 transmission with 5000 stall/transbrake. we set up the motor plate and custom made the firewall so the motor actually sits back eight inches further then stock ( supposed to help traction? ) .i am not really sure what this car weighs.i am guessing with big block in it somewhere around 3000..and i weigh 150..my goal was somewhere around 10.00 in the 1/4 . what do you guys think.. let me hear your input!

I'd guess a high 10 providing it will hook up. It's probably a lot heavier than you think.
The only way to know what it will run is to take it to a track and find out.

ive got a friend with the exact same car..only difference is he has a an alcohol 383 13.1 and jegs heads...he runs 10.15 all day long..and i mean the only the difference is motor and maybe stall ..everything else is pretty much exact...and with basically the exact same rear end set up and a little bigger tires then you , i would also expects that she hooks

Re: big block 468 trans am
i just checked out your website ( pretty cool by the way) and i read where it said you car weighed approximately 3060 lbs with you in it..then i read through the rest of your car description.our cars minus motor are very similar . everything not needed for my car has been stripped as well.doors have been gutted , bumpers , dash is fabricated aluminum , aluminum door covers , my transmission tunnel has been cut out and replaced with aluminum ( removable tunnel) car is back halfed and the works as far as sheet metal goes. lexan door windows..i could see the dana weighing a little more then your 9 inch and then add what another 40-50 since you have aluminum heads and i have steel..other then that were the same..and i dont know how much you weigh but its pretty unlikely you weigh less them me lol ( 150 lbs ) so i really cant imagine my car weighing much more then 50-60 lbs more then yours..i really dont care what it weighs . just what it runs lol. you say i can only high tens. ok then ,what is the downfall of my motor. lots of cubic inch ( not compared to yours though ) pretty big cam . ross pistons are 900$ pistons ..the only place i can see me really getting much better is a little more compression and most definitely aftermarket heads..but these heads have had a whole lot of work done. ill bet money they flow as good as say your average aftermarket aluminum head
