A TPI haunting
If I crank the engine it starts as normal but shuts it self off after about one second. If I try holding the gas at about a third of throttle in an effort to keep the engine running, the rpms will rise to about 3000 and fall to 1200 a couple of times before eventually dying. The same thing will happen every time. There is no service engine soon light. I have, so far, tryed 3 different computers and 3 different chips. I have replaced the ignition module and verified it's wires' continuity, no change. I have checked voltage at the ECM pinouts and all voltages in tolerance. Does anyone have suggestions on the direction I might want to take the troubleshooting? Or maybe you can relate to this and share your experience, maybe we can determine a common factor involved.

it sounds like either your tps needs to be replaced or your cat is clogged. The fact that it starts make me think it's not electrical. It could be as simple as the O2 sensor going bad and the car is running too rich. Sometimes cars will store codes even without a light being lit... I recommend that you run the codes and see what you get.

I said it doesn't sound electrical. the fact that it starts at all makes me think that...
I'm pretty sure it's fuel related...
Does your car have the special key that causes the fuel pump to work? (supposed to help reduce theft) or can you go to walmart and get one? If that's the case you could need a new key or if the key is good you may need a fuel pump
Also before you go and spend any money make sure all your vacuum hoses are connected properly. My brother's 91 Formula had a similar problem... I looked under the hood noticed a loose hose reconnected it and it cranked and ran just fine.
