AC gone, shorter belt?

I'm taking my a/c out, only thing is its still full, wheres the release valve? i don't want to pull the hose because the pressure might fling it back at me.. :P haha also could i get a shorter belt? I have a 89 camaro, so its 5 ribbed, i just don't know where to buy the serpentine belt that would be a/c delete, any clues or tips on

removing a/c
finding shorter belt

if anyone already did presizing for belt please tell me the length! thanks in advance!

I am wondering the same thing. I think you need an A/C Delete pulley for like $30 on ebay. You would have to reroute the belt and if you only take out one pulley i don't think it is doable. If it is though, I am going that route.

Re: AC gone, shorter belt?

yeah i called GM dealers and they said they come in multiple lengths for the 5 ribbed like my own, and its doable they say (so they think, lol) and what i'm going to do is just maybe adjust the idle arm? or it'll be obsolete... just going to be sitting there. I'll see what happens, i'll measure it sometime this weekend hopefully or during the coming week, i'm working all this weekend, i'll just tighten the belt and see how much slack is left and minus that from my stock belt and that'll most likely help.. just wish someone tried this and would post the exact length i need would help greatly!

My advice.... Leave the A/C intact and working.
