Code 33
I am hoping someone on here can help me pin point this problem, I bought this car awhile back and the owner said that the check engine light was on and it was code 33. He has replaced the Maf numerous times and it still gave him the codes. I took it for a test drive and it seemed to drive fine, i have now owned the car for some time now and it doesnt get driven alot. I have recently replaced both relays for the Maf power and Maf burnoff as suggested in quite a few post, I then clear the codes and let the car run.
The car does turn on and run fine for about 1-2 min then out of no where the idle drops real low (sometimes shutting the car off) then comes back up to normal and the check engine light comes back on. I went ahead and pulled the code again and its just code 33 nothing else. When i read all the other descriptions on the forums of code 33 everyone is having mine doesnt seem to be the same, it does not run real rough at idle although it does act a little funny driving down the highway. My gas mileage is crappy about 187 to a tank.
The car is an 1987 trans am, 305 tpi with 118,000 miles on it. I know it does need a tune up. Dont know any other information I can give about the car that might help figure out this problem.
Thanks,
-Buddy-

Even tho you’re not getting codes for them, it won’t cost anything to check the Idle Control Unit and Throttle Position Sensor.
Happy Racing!
If People Drove Any Slower They’d Be Going BackwardsHow bout those dorks too scared to drive without headlights on in the day time!
