5.7L Air Intake

Well, I want to get a CAI fo my 88 GTA 5.7L. I was searching around ebay, and I found this cheapo CAI for $28. If I got it, I would go and get a K&N filter for it right away. I would also paint the whole thing flat black. It still uses the MAF, and I would get a air foil for the throttle body also. I mean would I see gains in HP from this? I think it would do its job. What do you guys think?

Re: 5.7L Air Intake

i put one on my zr2 s10 with 4.6L, sounded a bit deeper under hard acceleration and no hp or torque gains whatsoever. in my eyes its more economical to buy a ringtone for your cell phone

Well if you do buy a K&N filter and put it on there you will see a difference in hp gain... You get colder air from the lower you go under the car but also get dirtier filters and if you have a K&N just get the charger kit for it and you'll be fine...

Re: 5.7L Air Intake

If I would get the K&N filter, and an air foil, would it be worth it?

Re: 5.7L Air Intake

I have an SLP CAI and an airfoil. Nothing really registered on the butt dyno, but throttle reponse seemed to increase. The CAI did change the exhaust note, which would lead me to believe that the engine's breathing better with it there. Certainly can't hurt anything though... I'd save your money on the airfoil though, unless you can find a used one for cheap. I got mine for $25.

I agree, the intake is cheap and can't hurt anything, the airfoil doesnt seem worth it to me, save up some money and get a nice cat-back exhaust and some headers and you'll be alot happier.
