new 383
Like the title says im building a new 383 fully forged and was wondering what cfm carb and size of intake runners on heads would best suit the 383...right now i have a holley 600cfm vac. sec....i can get my hands on a holley 650 double pumper for $150 but i dont want to spend the money on it if it wont work with my setup...i also just purchased the comp cam XE284H (.240/.246 and .507/.510), and am running 160 intake runners ported and polished to match intake ports but not fully ported and polished(stock head but angle milled .030")
thanks,
Chas

The XE284H powerband goes up to 6500 RPMs. The old stand-by formula RPM*CID/3456 = 720 CFM. A 750 DP would be more like it.
Might want to get those heads cleaned up as well. That's asking a lot out of unported heads.

Re: new 383
Why build using all these fancy parts and then throw on a crappy set of heads? I'd be looking into a set of 190-200cc heads... I'm a big fan of Canfield 195's.
