Alright so im confused, its like midnight here and i dont wanna try to figure it out, i pulled into my spot at my apartment and i was sitting there for a minute and it just died
all my power was shut off, my tach rolled all the way to the right and stuck there (keep in mind its dead at this point) i turned the key and nothing, no response.
THEN i disconnected the neg battery cable for 10 seconds and replaced it then it was all good.....
WHAT HAPPENED!?
thanks in advance

my car used to do that some times to its probaly a loose or dirty battery terminal connection or maybe a bad battery
but why would disconnecting and reconnecting the battery chane that? if it were a shorted cell or battery issue a midtronics tester would havecaught that
im more concerned about the tachs behavior if i could get an explanation it could help me fix this

My truck used to die randomly with similar effects... It confused the crap outta me...
Long story (and $400 in replacement parts) short, The Battery terminals were loose and it kept giving the code to the ECU that the Battery was dead... then the connections would jiggle back into place, and the ECU would read that the Battery was ok... Imagine this scycle happening several times a minute. Eventually the ECU wnt bad. replaced it, No more random dying sessions.
Try going to the car, turn the key over (Not all the way) and take the Battery terminal off, then reconnect it... You should hear a relay click... If you don't, the ECU may be bad... I could be wrong...
Anyhoo... try tightening your Termainals first, this could sieze further damage,if it is ehat I think it is

So, any news? Did you try anything with the ecu or cleaning/tightening the Battery Terminals? Is the car still doing it?
the ecu? thats a long shot lol
i took a look at the battery, clean, but i repositioned the cables, they have the 3 little tabs that keep it from spinning, so after i did that it didnt do it as much, what was making me made was the armature on my starter was dragging so it would start like a dead battery
ended up replacing the starter, cranked a lot better and i havent had the issue since
