85 Trans Am

Hello this is my first post but i've been reading this forum for a while now. I have recently came across a 85 trans am with a 305 V8 and an auto trans. It says it has the fuel injection but i havent looked under the hood yet. I have been in the car and it starts fine but my question is on the speedometer. It only goes to 85 mph and i was wondering if that is as fast as it will go? i will still probably get the car but i was just curious. Thanks for your time.

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org (or at least, to finally posting).

85 MPH is as fast as the speedometer will tell you that you are going. Your nanny government didn't want you to be tempted to drive faster than they thought you needed to.

Re: 85 Trans Am

Yes, welcome! as five7kid said, it will go a lot faster. 1985 was the first year for TPI in these cars. Maybe you'll get lucky!
