co2 emissions

hi lads hope someone can help here,i have imported a 88 camaro 5.0 tbi into ireland and i am having difficulty getting the customs to clear it. they are asking for a document stating what the CO2 emissions were at the time of manufacture, would anyone have any idea who i can contact regarding this,or am i fighting a loosing battle?

Well ide start by calling the Enviormental Protection Agency (EPA). They manage all the emmissions regulations in the USA.

If all they are seeking is the emmissions standard then yeah EPA is the way to go.

An MSO(Manufacturer Statement of Origin) EPA may not be able to help with this however the state country or origin where the vehicle was previously registered should have it on file. I'm not sure on the laws in ireland but what happens to the MSOs here is they are transfered to microfilm or digital image and shredded. (legal crap) Anyways EPA sets the regulations manufacturer produces a certificate stating they abide by said regulations design standards etc then that goes where the car goes until it is titled. Basically a birth certificate for the car.

Hopefully all they want is just a number though.

These folks make it seem alot easier than all that...

it was first imported to uk in 1991 and i have just bought the car through ebay and icant get anyone to give the original co2 emissions cert if i dont get this they want nearly 3000 euro vrt (vehicle registration tax)
