Fuel Pump Replacement
I understand that to replace my fuel pump I need to drop the rear end. I will be doing this in my garage with it up on jackstands. I just wanted to see if anyone had any tips or tricks to make my life a little easier. Also, I am converting my car from carb to TPI, is there anything else I should do while I have the tank down? Thanks in advance.

Are you replacing the exhaust while you're at it?
A tranny jack works a lot better on the rear axle than a floor jack.
Have as much fuel out of the tank as possible before you start.

Re: Fuel Pump Replacement
You can get a new fuel level sender too, but it's not a must. The FI one's are made for the right size pump. Also, you may need to get a high pressure line for the pump to the fuel filter. Carb has the fuel filter right were the fuel line hooks into the carb. Other than that, you are pretty much there. If you are not replacing the exhaust, undo it from the cat and disconnect the rear passenger control arm from the axle assembly. This way you can get the hole exhaust out of your way completely without having to cut it or anything like that. Also make sure you get the shocks undone from the axle assembly.

You may also want to disconnect the brake line "Splitter block" from the axle to give you a little more room to lower your axle. Dont disconnect your brake lines, just the one bolt holding the block to the axle.

Thanks for all the advice I got the tank out of the car. Now I just have to put it back in.

Thank you for doing this the correct way. Wasn't hard, was it?
