Ok guys I am generally new to the Camaro club here and the V8 350TPI engines. I have an 87 Buick GN that my Dad passed on to me and up until a year ago thats all I had work done on and have learned about... so please forgive my ignorance before I continue.

Last year I picked up an 1987 Iroc Z from Florida. It orginally had a 305TPI in it but a rebuilt 350TPI from an 88-89 trans am was put in (this was all done before I bought the car). Since then I have put in a 10 inch 3200 stall converter and am in the process of having a Borg Warner 9 bolt posi rear installed with 3.27 gear ratio.

Here is my question... with the 350 is it possible to get into the 12 second area. If so.. what are some vital mods you guys would consider. Im trying to get an idea of what has to be done and what its going to cost.

I would prefer sticking with the 350 if it IS possible to achieve those times.

Without knowing what camshaft is in the engine, I would say the converter has too much stall. The factory TPI runs out of breath around 5500 rpm.

I managed to get into the high 11's with a 3.27 9 bolt with am old school 383.

Use the search feature. TGO has about 10 years worth or message archives full of knowledge.

 

I would eventually like to change out the cam anyways.. so anything that is recommended I would like to look into. The only reason I was not going through all the archives was because Im trying to gather as much info in this thread as possible. I want to be able to talk to guys I can keep in contact with on the forums and get up to date information on what works.. where to find it... etc etc
