A Few Quick Question

i have a few quick question that i'm sure someone could help me with

btw i have a 85 firebird 305 4bbl G 8cyl (only made in 4% of 85 firebird trans am

and i was wondering
1) what is my stock carb size i know it is a 4bbl but what is the cfm

2)what are the stock gears that come with my car ( stock posi track)

3) how hard is it to convert my air cleaner to one that doesn't require a snorkel so it looks like just an air filter is on my carb

4) what carb and what gears would you recommend i put on my my car

thanks in advance
James

1)I don't know the size of the stock Q-jet. But they generaly flow a decent ammount of air, for a stock carb.

2)No way to tell with the info you posted. Look for your RPO codes. Or better yet pull the cover and count the teeth on the ring and pinion. Divide the number of teeth on the pinion into the number on the ring. The gear oil probably needs to be changed anyway.

3)Easy, buy an aftermarket air cleaner. You will need a drop base air cleaner if you want the hood to still close. It is not recomended that you do this though. The air under the hood gets hot. Hot air is not good for making horsepower.

4)Depends on what you want to do with the car. Daily drive? If so, rebuild the stock one and call it good. Or get a remanufactured one(Jet) from Summit or Jegs. Can't give a recomendation on the gears without knowing what you currently have.
