windshield wipers and heater problems
I have a 84 camaro with a 305. My windshield wipers are not working anymore. Before they decided to stop working I changed the motor and the bushings on the transmission linkage but the wipers would still only move in about a 20-30 degree arc before returning. Now they just won't work. Why?? Also, my heater doesn't work, as in my fan doesn't come on. I've changed the fuse that is connected to it but it didn't help. I believe most of problems come from the previous owner being a butt and not caring about the car (removing stuff improperly and not putting things like thermostats in). Anyway, if you could help I thank you and if you need pics just let me know and i will get them up ASAP.

the heat problem could be because of the blower motor the blower motor could be worn out and need replaced turn it to the low or any running position and go under the hood find the blower motor and tap on it and see if it runs

it doesn't run, but when the battery is connected directly to it by jumper cables it works. It wouldn't bother me if it wasn't so cold early in the morning. Thanks Chevy, anymore suggestions will be gladly accepted.

does the blower motor work with the A/C on? stupid question but if the fan does work with the A/C on then u might have a bad control part

Re: windshield wipers and heater problems
the idiot took out the AC and just left wires hanging. He also cut into the harness (well, those black crinkled hoses) and spliced some wires and let stuff hang out. I'm thinking that it's the control module as well but am hoping someone can suggest something not so expensive. I've easily put 1700 dollars into a car that supposedly needed a radiator and oil change. It's frustrating especially with me being a college student/family man.

for the windsheild wipers i think it might be the switch if it stopped working completly so i would take a test light or a volt meter and check with the switch on and make sure the switch is working

Re: windshield wipers and heater problems
I actually just took my wiper motor apart tonight and I finally figured out why mine was doing the 20-30 degree thing. My motor was good but so it was still turning but the reason it does the 20-30 degree thing is because the motor is essentially stuck in "park". You know how the wipers kind of hide lower down in the cowl when you turn them off? Thats what I mean by park. Turns out there is a locking mechanism that is controlled by a electro-magnet and for whatever reason, that mechnism would not release. I dont know if it is the magnet itself or if it is the cover portion which controls the intermitent speed of the wipers. A temporary fix, which is what i did, is to take off the little spring that holds the locking mechanism. That way the wipers just cant go into "park" mode but they still work. Much better that getting caught in the rain with no wipers. Its really hard to explain but if you take it apart and screw with it for a while you will know what im talking about. Or just save yourself the headache and find a whole new unit in a junkyard or classified ad. You need the whole thing though, not just the motor. Good luck. Let me know if i can help you anymore.
