Vacuum advance oil leak help
I condemned my cars rear seal as being blown but yesterday I got a chance to look at it and it seems that the oil is actually leaking from the brass fitting that connects to the distributor. Looks like the vacuum advance. Does anybody know exactly what this piece is called so I could pick up a new one, or at least know the size?? I thought my rear main had blown out because all I saw was oil dripping out at a steady rate from under the inspection cover. Tightened up the brass fitting since it was just about loose and the leak slowed greatly. Thanks alot guys! I guess the 305 lives to see another day!!!

Right, the line which runs from the distributor through the firewall into my gauge pod. The fitting where it meets the distributor is leaking.

Re: Vacuum advance oil leak help
We're confused. There is no line that runs from your distributor to the gauge pod (other than some wires maybe). There is an oil pressure sender next to the distributor. It's electrical though.
Re: Vacuum advance oil leak help
There is if someone installed a mechanical gauge, not from the distributor but from where the oil PSU was. Sounds like the case here, and yes, its probably leaking.
