Removing entire engine harness from firewall..

How hard is it to remove the engine wiring harness out of the fender and off the firewall from an 88' T/A. I have it all disconnected from the ecm, the engines out and most of eveything is dissconnected, but it seems to run out the passenger fender into the engine bay across the back of the firewall then back inside the car on the driverside???? I need to remove it before the new engine goes in, as i dont need any of it caus eim using a carb. But what do i NEED TO KEEP for my carb setup as far as windsheild wiper motor, headlights i believ run off the switch itself and dont tie into the engine harness if im correct? Im going to buy a haynes manual and read it cover to cover but any imput is appreciated.

The harness can be removed from the firewall by the brake booster. It's held in by a 1/4" bolt in the center. The one on the passanger side is for the computer. Unplug the computer under the dash on the passanger side. Remove the inner fender (or just loosen the bottom) and it will pull out. The wires on the drivers side also control the lights, wipers, horn, gauges....I would leave them alone. You can pull the plastic off and trace the wires and remove the ones you don't need, The ones running to the computer can be removed. All you really need to run the carb motor is 12+ for the distributor, and the purple wire for the starter. I'd find a good manual, study it, then start cutting.

>Yo, toomany...do the computer wires pass through the firewall? Is there a hole there? Or does ot plug into a connector on the firewall? I want to mount an ignition box in the pass. side dash, next to the ECM.....but I need a neat way to pass the wire through! I don't want to drill another hole in the foirewall.....Is there a way? Maybe via the antenna wire? Would that work?
