Jack Problems
i know there is not a proper place for this, but it needs to be somewhere
ANYWAY
i got a hydraulic floor jack, looks like this one,

but its not that brand, but same jack
anyway, its acting all kinds of strange....when you pump it up it only seems to have "pressure" on the handle for 30-40% of the pump, its also slowly leaks down, its full of fluid.
was wonderin if anyone has used something like bars leak hrdraulic stop leak to seal one up or knows about adjusting the "do not adjust" screw on it......its not leakin fluid, and like i said its full, id hate to spend over $100 again on a jack, and im sure not using one of the cheap ones
any ideas guys

Re: Jack Problems
Sorry, but it's got a bad seal. Cheap Chinese junk most likely. They never last very long. Unless you can get a rebuild kit for it, it's probably done.

Re: Jack Problems
Use jack stands
Sorry...couldnt resist.
I think its done....but at least you get a lil bump. Maybe someone knows a trick. I might try some brake fluid in a last ditch effort.

Re: Jack Problems
i would save my money and buy a good jack and stands. I use lincon jacks and stands there about 300 for a set. but after 15 years the jack is still in perfict working order. so well worth the investment. also just rember this and think about it when buying a jack and stands YOUR AZZ IS GOING TO BE UNDER THAT CAR AND IF THE JACK OR STAND FAILS WHEN YOU ARE UNDER IT CHANCES ARE YOUR DONE.
so I say spend a little more now and save a life or a lifetime of pain for you or who ever helps you.

Re: Jack Problems
I wouldn't use any additives to the hydraulic oil. You can try to repair the jack. Most likely you will find failing or contaminated seals and O rings.
ALWAYS use jack stands, even with a new jack. The only exception is with a jack which incorporates a mechanical locking device, like some air, frame, and electric scissors jacks.
