Hey ppl need some help with my 1989 v6 rs it seems to run great when cold but when it heats up it shuts down. I try to start it again but it wont start until the next day. Do the wires or spark plugs have anything to do with it? Also the spark plug wires seemed to be in the wrong firing order, i checked the firing order on the chilton's book and rewired them according to the diagram. But now the car wont start and i hear some popping sounds coming from the exhaust what can be the prblem? Thanks

This sounds like it may be a lean-out issue. Sounds like when the car is cold, there is enough enrichment to keep the engine running, but for one reason or another, the engine is going so lean that it wont stay running. Does it run when you give it gas, but not idle, or simply just crap out once it warms up? Does the SES light come on (IOW, does the computer set any errors)? Have you checked the fuel pressure yet?

Some possible things to consider are a faulty fuel pump causing low fuel pressure or a faulty sensor.

 

It does run when i give it gas, it does have the ses light on. Havent checked the fuel pressure gonna have to check the fuel pressure tomorrow. Thanks
