Okay, I'm trying to get my car running by this friday but im having some issues. Okay the engine is making some ticking noices, and don't get me wrong its not the rockers. One person thinks its pre ignition cause im running pump gas with 10.7 to 1 compression and one person thinks its rod bearings fresh rebuilt 383 no miles on it any help?

 

What RPM/load does the noise occur? Can you isolate the source better? Top? Bottom? Front? One side? Does this happen cold, hot, or both?

 

check for exhaust leaks
whats your timing set at 10.5-1 should be no prob on pump gas
