The second picture looks like a heater core diverter valve and that vacuum opens and closes the flow to the heater core. Does your heat work? Oh wait nevermind thats the canister. I dont have a clue what those may be. Has this car been in a wreck?

Re: Can someone tell me what this is for
no, i had a 350 put in, my hvac wont switch vents, the line coming from the passenger side firewall which is said to be the hvac vacuum looks like it runs to that box in the second post but the port below it has nothing there, im wondering if i hook a vacuum to that open port maybe my hvac will work ? and im just trying to figure out what the part in the first post is and where the vacuum goes for it, one end goes to canister and the other end im not sure...

Well its not going to hurt anything if you try so just try it out. Nothing I hate more than trying to figure out how vacuums run.

This one goes to an elbow on the intake manifold right behind the carb on mine. Just a generic manifold vacuum source.

Connect the TCC lockup to manifold vacuum (below throttle blade.)
The vacuum source for the HVAC should be connected to a manifold port, but with a check valve that traps vacuum in a reservoir ball mounted underneath the battery, or purge canister location.
The line that is tied into the Purge Canister line should be connected to ported vacuum (above the throttle blade) so that the tank fumes are only sucked into the TB during part throttle.
