1984 Camaro

I wasn't real sure where to post this so I put it here, but mods please move it where ever it should be.

I'm looking at a 1984 Z28 HO that has 105,000 on the clock. From the pics it is very clean inside and out with the original paint. The paint is a little crappy but there are no major dents and it looks to be a solid car. I called the guy and he said it runs well, and everything works except that the A/C doesn't blow very cold. The guy is asking 2,500. Should I jump on it?

I have an 84 Trans Am which is basically the same thing with a few differences outside of "Camaro vs. Firebird".

Some questions to ask.

How well does the speedometer work? (it is mechanical
Does it bounce or is it steady?
Does the trip odometer work? -- minor but could be important
Does the cruise work?
How does the transmission shift?
Does it have Carb or TPI (i think it should be carb but...this is why you ask)
If it's carb, is it computer controlled or was that removed?
Does it have all of it's proper emissions stuff? (important depending on where you live)
He said the air works poorly, have him explain
Are teh wheels stock or have they been changed?
Has there been any other modifications?
Do ALL of the accessories work as they are supposed to? Lights, wipers, rear-defrost, heater etc?
Has the motor been rebuilt? Has the tranny been rebuilt? Rear-end?

Some of this might be over the top but...it's just my 2-cents on what to ask. Lastly, I would definitely drive the car. How does it "feel" to you? And then, $2400 is a pretty good price so long as you are happy with how it looks, sound and behaves so long as the guy is able to answer your questions.

Re: 1984 Camaro

I'd be all over that like a fat kid on a birthday cake. Thirdgens are a bit more expensive around here though... a guy would be fortunate to score a running one for $2500. Guess prices are a bit lower elsewhere.

I wouldn't pay half that.

Re: 1984 Camaro

Yes, why? Seems very reasonable for an 84 Z28 HO with that low mileage. If you happen to have one sitting around, Atilla, I'd pick it up for a bit more than half

I guess it all depends on what's available in your area, what similar cars are being sold for, etc. Around here a good rust-free Z with 100,000 miles would probably bring five or six thousand, I know prices in the States are lower but 2500 still seems like a good price.
