Got a question about my idle

Ok well I recently bought a 1985 firebird 2.8 V6. Anyways it runs perfectly fine, and when starting it up I dont have a problem. But when I start driving it the check engine light comes on at about 35mph and when I stop at a stop light the idle seems to be pretty bad. Anyone know what might be causing this?

Re: Got a question about my idle

Scan the ECM for stored error codes. That should be a good indication.

The Cadillac converter could be shot, all clogged up causing the motor to choke, check that and tell if thats it
