How does this build sound?

I plan on eventually doing a 383 build up for my car and after looking around at other peoples set ups I put a list of parts together. How does this list sound?
383 Shortblock
AFR 180cc heads 64cc chambers or Edelbrock 185cc with 64cc chambers
Comp Cams 280 Magnum Cam
Edelbrock Hi-Flow TPI Set up
Will the aftermarket tpi set up be too restrictive on the motor? Will 1 5/8" headers do or would I need to go up to 1 3/4"
Will I need a bigger throttle body? What size injectors would be needed? Thanks and any ideas would be really helpful.

Re: How does this build sound?

64cc heads on a 383 with flat-top pistons would be close to 11:1. A 12cc dish would get you around 10.3:1, which is much wiser, even with your choice of cam. If you're going to spend money on an aftermarket heads and intake combo anyway, the Lingenfelter/Accel SuperRam was designed and intended for the 383. In which case, go with a 195-200 cc head. Going TPI on a 383, with moderate cam and compression can easily exceed 500 ft-lbs, but will be no fun by 4500 rpm. If this is what you want, your cam is too big. If you want to use that cam, get a SuperRam, MiniRam or StealthRam. For heads, I'd say AFR 195s or Dart Pro1 Platinum 200s.

Re: How does this build sound?

The car will only be street driven with only a couple visits to the track. Does anybody else have any ideas on how to make this build better. I would like to keep the car TPI. How hard with this be to get tuned?

Magnum grinds have been around forever. Look into Comp's XFI series.

Re: How does this build sound?

Definetly go with AFR 195s or Dart Pro1 Platinum 200s or even WP Sportsman II 200 64cc heads if this is mainly a street car and occasional trips to the track. You will have thr grunt needed for street driving and some good mid-range torque. As far as cam, I would contact isky, comp cams or whatever brand you prefer and let them tell you the best cam for your needs. They may need to custom grind a cam for your needs. Also try to keep compression less than 11 to 1 for street driving and being able to use pump gas is a benefit. You'll also want 1 3/4 in primary headers with any of the above heads to breath good.

Re: How does this build sound?

Sportsman 2s are obsolete, and there are better heads for cheaper. As for headers, the 1 5/8 won't be a restriction at your power level if you stay with a long-runner intake.
