i need help!!
ok, so i checked out this nice 1988 GTA today
its for $2500, which i think for the shape its in, is a great price.
new paint, new chrome american racing torq thrust rims
new alternator, new starter.
here's the downs...
the left headlight motor doesnt work. all i gotta do is flip it up manually...no biggie...he even has a motor to replace it.
one of the radiator fans is smaller due to some shop chipping it and the guy told them about it so they replaced it with some brand. it works, just may need to get a bigger one.
The a/c doesnt work. all the components are there, needs a new compressor...i dont really care about that anyways but i could get it fixed in a month...
the big issue is the fact that my dads friend had a scanner tool that he plugged in somewhere where the pedals are...my dad read him the 8-digit code that the scanner needs and nothing was showing up...he said usually what happens is that something shows up almost right away about the power, what problems, etc. but nothing showed up. (i honestly think my dad read the code wrong because it was hard for me to read and he has bad eyesight)
The interior is showing expectable wear and tear, but there are no huge tears. its mainly just on the driver side where the seam is, its not really that big anyway.
the car passed emissions fine too. the guy told me they ran the emission test using the rod? idk, i guess they run the computer test only for cars 96 and newer.
i need your guys' help!!!
how much money do you think it would cost to get everything fixed??
my main concern is the computer...everything else is no big deal to me.
i really want this car, it's my dream!
but i need some reassurance that its the right choice!

Re: i need help!!
Sounds good to me. I wouldn't worry about the scanner not connecting. 20 year old connectors get dirty and flaky sometimes. The ECM is obviously working if it's running and passed emissions testing. If the check engine light comes on for a second when you turn the key on and then stays off, life is good. :-)
The A/c might cost you if it's must have. A rebuilt compressor, new dryer, and labor could be $300-$400
