cloyes timing cover

i just got a new 2 piece cloyes timing cover with cam button and as i was reading through the instructions it say you can only use up to a 7 1/2" balancer and the 8" ones hit the bolts. i unfortunatly have a 8". i was thinking of installing the bolts on the center cover and grinding them down for clearance. has any1 had to deal with this?

Re: cloyes timing cover

the other thing i was looking into was changing the balancer to a 6.75" one but wasnt sure if it would make a difference on the balance of the motor by changing the balancer. now the 6.75" one will still be for a 383/400 sbc which is what my 8" is for. just wasnt sure if the size made a difference.
