LT1 engine worth swaping?
Just recently my wifes 95 Roadmaster was rear ended and badly damaged. It was bought off an old couple with 50K original miles, really clean car! I was told by our mechanic that the motor is an Corvette LT1 engine. I was wondering if I should pull it out and slap it in the Roc? Some of the specs are below, what do you guys think or know about this car/motor?? THANX
5,733 cc 5.7 liters 8 V front longitudinal engine with 101.5 mm bore, 88.4 mm stroke, 10.5 compression ratio, overhead valve and two valves per cylinder

Re: LT1 engine worth swaping?
Its not a Corvette motor, but the Corvette used a similar motor. The LT1 in that car has iron heads, little lower compression and a weaker cam. Its still a good engine though, and it would be worth swapping in IMO. Its a stronger engine in every sense than the LB9 or L98 was.
Yours has 9.5:1 CR and less cam than the Corvette or Camaro/TA used, and you have iron heads instead of the Corvette/TA/Z28 aluminum heads.
In stock form though, the iron heads actually outflow the aluminum heads, so you do have that going for you.

Re: LT1 engine worth swaping?
If you decide to do this, the one problem LT1s had was when the water pump leaks, it can take out the distributor. Other than that, they are very good engines and would be worth the power gains from it.
