Hey all,

I fired up the Camaro today for the first time in two years, and the rough idle still hasn't fixed itself. As soon as you give it a little gas (say, 1000 rpm) it's very smooth, maybe due to the fact that the vibration would be so much more frequent that it becomes less turbulent.

What are some basic steps I can take towards fixing a rough idle? It's a Edelbrock 1406 on a 305 (not stock LG4/L69). Is there anything I should pay special attention to, as I'd like to fix what would appear to be a simple problem?

Cheers,

G

A vacuum leak will provide you with a rough idle. Spray ether around you intake gasket and check all vacuum hoses.

I love how people think problems fix themselves if you just ignore them. Heres a few things to check,

is your check engine light on, if it is find out whats codes are stored
change your tps
IACV might need cleaning
vacuum leaks suck, find all of your vacuum hoses and make sure they are in good shape and properly fitted in the correct locations

dude above if you think a edelbrock 600 carb has a tps, iacv, or a computer for those sensors youve lost your mind. Its probably trash in the carb. Take it off the car and remove the screws holding the top on the base of the carb, then clean everything out with compressed air.
