Re: hood wont pop
With my car I sometimes have to smack the front tip of the hood a little bit for it to pop, try just thrusting your palm at it with a bit of force.

Re: hood wont pop
This happened on my 88 GTA. I was able to push down on the front center of the hood right above the latch and get it to pop that way. You may have to do it several times. It worked best when I pushed it down fast then immediately let go.

Re: hood wont pop
The latch bar on the hood is binding in the latch assembly on the bumper.
To get it to pop have someone pull the cable while you tap/knock/bang on the hood near the latch. If that doesnt work, grab the hood near the headlight bucketse and shake it from side to side and up and down. Something will dislodge it.
You'll need to lube the latch assembly, if that doesn't work, loosen either of the bolts on the latch bar on the hood itself just a little, and tap it with a wrench and knock it to either side. One direction you knock the latch bar is going to make it easier to open, the otehr direction will make it harder to open. Trial and error. Keep tapping it around until it opens the easiest.
And when I say loosen one of the bolts, just loosen it up enough that if you hit the bar with a wrench it moves less than a 16th of a inch. We're talking small adjustments.

Re: hood wont pop
hep, push down, have your assistant pull and hold, then start jiggling. Your assistant should find it easier to pull it all the way if you're pushing down first. Better you jiggle the hood than your assistant.

Re: hood wont pop
The spring isnt the problem. It's the latch and latch bar that are the problem.

Re: hood wont pop
I had this problem for years on my car. It was always one of those things I meant to fix but never did. As mentioned, pushing/pulling on the hood near one of the headlights broght it up quickly so it wasn't a problem. A while back I finally got around to looking into it. After fiddling around with the latch placement needlessly, a quick shot of WD40 solved the problem. I came back and did a more permanent lube job on it and it works great.

Re: hood wont pop
When that happens to my Z, like the others, I just tap the hood in a certain spot and it opens up. Thanks for the info, though. I thought it was my spring also. I will lube and also do the adjustments called for by Infernal

People, you aren't paying attention!
He pulls the hood release, and nothing happens because the cable on the other end isn't connected to the hood latch!!!!

Re: hood wont pop
yeah it was the release cable was disconnected from the latch mechanism. i just pulled the cable around the latch and had someone else pulled the release handle at the same time.
thanks for the ideas!
